Send documents for signature with Claude or ChatGPT

Send documents for signature with Claude or ChatGPT. Attach the PDF and the agent creates the Envelope in Signit, only as you and with every action audited.

If you already work with Claude or ChatGPT, you do not have to leave the conversation to ask for a signature. Connect Signit once, attach the PDF in the chat, and tell the agent who must sign. The agent creates an Envelope and sends it through the same workflow as the Signit app.

Signit is free for up to 10 Envelopes sent per month.

What a connected agent can do

An agent connected to Signit can:

  • create an Envelope from the PDF attached to the conversation and send it to the Signers;
  • prepare only a Draft, if that is what you ask, and wait for your instruction to send;
  • add text fields or checkboxes when you ask for them;
  • list your Pending Signatures, meaning the documents you must sign;
  • sign your own request, after you have read the document and given explicit consent.

The agent does not sign on behalf of other people. When you send an Envelope, the agent requests the Signers' signatures; each of them signs on their own, from the link they received.

The agent acts only as you

The connection links the agent to your Signit User. The agent has exactly the access you have and nothing more. It cannot act as another User and cannot bypass the rules the interface follows.

Every Envelope created or signed through the agent goes through the same checks as in the app: the same PDF limits, the same field rules, and the same protection against duplicate sends. The Envelope's history records that the action came through your connected agent, not from the interface. You can revoke access at any time from Agent connection.

Connect Signit once

Sign-in uses OAuth, so you do not need an API key. The hosted endpoint is https://app.sign-it.ro/mcp.

  • Claude.ai: add Signit as a connector, enable code execution, and allow network access to app.sign-it.ro. You can attach PDFs up to 3 MiB. See Connect Claude.ai.
  • ChatGPT: turn on developer mode and add Signit as an OAuth connection. You can attach PDFs up to 25 MiB. See Connect ChatGPT.

The Connect an agent page describes every option.

Send a document for signature from the conversation

Attach the PDF and write a clear request with each Signer's name and email address:

Use Signit to send this attached PDF for signature to Alice (alice@example.com) and Bob (bob@example.com). Parallel signing, English invitations.

The agent transfers the original PDF to Signit, without rebuilding it from extracted text. If an email address is missing, the agent should ask you for it. Signit reads the document and places each Signer's fields at their signature blocks. If you prefer, ask for a signature page and everyone signs on an added page.

Signers receive the email invitation and sign as usual, without an account and even on a phone. Their steps are in How to sign a PDF online for free, step by step.

Sign the documents you received through the agent

You can ask the agent: "What do I have to sign in Signit?" It shows your Pending Signatures. When you pick one, the agent inspects it and shows every field prepared for you. Read the whole PDF before you approve the adopted name and consent. If the Envelope also has fields to fill in, the agent shows you exactly what will appear on the document and asks for your agreement again.

Reviewing the PDF through the agent is limited to 3 MiB. If your client cannot read the whole document, sign directly in Signit.

What kind of signature the agent produces

The same kind as in the app: a simple electronic signature, with the adopted name, explicit consent, and a record of events. It is not a qualified signature. When you need a qualified one, read Simple, advanced or qualified electronic signature.

What we are still verifying

The attachment flows are implemented but still need live verification in each client, with each account's settings. Signit works as a custom connection and is not yet published in a public connector directory.

Frequently asked questions

Can the agent sign on someone else's behalf?

No. The agent acts only as your Signit User. It can sign only your own requests, with your explicit consent.

Do I need a Signit API key?

No. The connection uses OAuth. You sign in to Signit and approve access in the connection window.

How do I stop the agent's access?

Open Agent connection in Signit and revoke the connection. After that, the agent can no longer act on your behalf.

Do Signers have to use Claude or ChatGPT too?

No. Signers receive a regular email invitation and sign in the browser, without an account.
